Project details

Pandon Building brings together Northumbria University's Professional Services teams within a single workplace, creating a flexible environment that supports collaboration, wellbeing and new ways of working. The refurbishment transforms an existing building into a contemporary hub designed around the needs of the University and its people.

Northumbria University appointed GT3 to transform the existing Pandon Building into a new Professional Services Hub, bringing together teams that had previously been located across eight separate buildings. The project creates a central workplace that improves collaboration, supports organisational change and provides a more connected working environment.

The refurbishment reconfigures the existing building to provide a variety of flexible work settings that respond to different ways of working. Open-plan workspaces are complemented by meeting rooms, breakout areas, quiet spaces and informal collaboration zones, allowing staff to choose the environment best suited to the task at hand.

Designed around the principles of flexibility, wellbeing and connectivity, the project creates a workplace that supports both individual focus and collaborative working, while making better use of the University’s existing estate.

Key Deliverables

  1. 01

    Commercial Value

Consolidating Professional Services into a single workplace improves operational efficiency and makes more effective use of the University’s existing estate. Flexible workspaces support future organisational change, while the refurbishment extends the life of the building and creates a workplace capable of adapting to evolving ways of working.

  2. 02

    Social Impact

The project creates a workplace that encourages collaboration, supports staff wellbeing and strengthens connections between teams. A variety of work settings gives people greater choice over how and where they work, while shared social and collaborative spaces encourage interaction and help create a stronger sense of community across the University.
