Project details

Horfield Leisure Centre, located in the heart of Horfield opposite Horfield Common, is one of Bristol City Council’s flagship leisure facilities alongside Hengrove Park and Easton Leisure. The existing dry leisure facilities had reached the end of life and needed significant work to ensure the centre remained a vibrant hub for fitness and recreation.

As part of Everyone Active’s wider roll out, GT3 worked with contractor Vincent Stokes to extend and refurbish the facilities. The £4.8million refurbishment was also the first facility to benefit from GT3 Interiors Brand Guidelines, which provides the layout, finishes and materials needed to ensure modern, exciting and inclusive fitness suite facilities, across Everyone Active’s 200+ leisure portfolio.

Key Deliverables

  1. 01

    Commercial Value

The refurbishment of Horfield Leisure Centre delivers commercial value by extending the life of an important public leisure asset and strengthening its income-generating facilities. The expanded 200 sq m café, new three-tier soft play zone, extended gym, immersive studio and upgraded reception areas create a broader, more flexible offer for families, fitness users and visitors. Supported by energy-saving initiatives throughout, the project improves long-term operational resilience while helping Everyone Active deliver a more consistent and modern experience across its wider leisure portfolio.

  2. 02

    Social Impact

Horfield Leisure Centre supports health, wellbeing and everyday community use by creating more inclusive, welcoming and family-friendly spaces for local residents. The refurbishment improves access to modern fitness, studio and changing facilities, while the Bristol-themed soft play area and expanded café encourage social connection and longer visits. By renewing a well-used local centre opposite Horfield Common, the project helps keep leisure provision active, accessible and relevant for the surrounding community.
