GT3 was appointed by Hart District Council to design a new leisure centre that would replace the existing facility, which had reached the end of its economic life. Located adjacent to Edenbrook Country Park, the project sought to create a modern destination that could serve a growing community while complementing its natural surroundings. The building’s distinctive curved form reflects the contours of the landscape, allowing it to sit comfortably within the park while respecting neighbouring residential areas.

Working closely with Hart District Council and Sport England, the brief evolved to combine a wide range of sport, health and community uses within a single accessible destination. The completed centre includes a 25-metre eight-lane competition pool with spectator seating, teaching pool with therapy and fun features, specialist training tank, eight-court sports hall, three studios, large fitness suite, climbing wall, café and community spaces. Externally, five FIFA-standard 3G pitches and four full-size grass pitches extend the leisure offer into the surrounding landscape.

Recognised by Sport England as an exemplar of modern leisure design, the project successfully balances competition-level facilities with inclusive community provision, creating a destination that supports everyday recreation, organised sport and long-term wellbeing for residents across the Hart district.
