Project details
Working with North Yorkshire Council, GT3 refurbished and extended the much-loved former Harrogate Hydro, rejuvenating the facility as the newly renamed Harrogate Leisure and Wellness Centre.
The completed centre now includes a 400-square-metre fitness suite, upgraded sauna and steam facilities, improved reception and café areas, and enhanced gym, spin studio, leisure and swimming facilities. Sustainability improvements were also central to the project, with gas boilers replaced by air-source heat pumps, 250 solar panels installed, and new metering and energy monitoring systems introduced to support more efficient operation.
By extending the life of an existing community asset, the project has modernised Harrogate’s leisure offer while improving the user experience, reducing environmental impact and supporting long-term public value.
