Project details

Bedworth Physical Activity Hub is a landmark leisure destination designed to transform health, wellbeing and physical activity across the borough. Replacing the ageing Bedworth Leisure Centre, the new hub combines high-quality indoor sport and leisure facilities with an enhanced active landscape, creating a destination that encourages participation, supports healthier lifestyles and connects the community with the surrounding park.

Delivered for Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council, the Physical Activity Hub represents one of the borough’s most significant investments in community leisure infrastructure. Located within Miners’ Welfare Park, the development replaces the original 1970s leisure centre with a contemporary facility designed to meet the needs of both existing and future generations.

The hub brings together a 25-metre eight-lane swimming pool, learner pool with movable floor, 100-station fitness suite, four-court sports hall, fitness studios, café and flexible community spaces within a highly accessible environment. Beyond the building itself, the project extends into the surrounding park, introducing mountain bike trails, a cycle hub, learn-to-ride facilities, pump track, all-wheels skatepark and improved walking and cycling connections to encourage activity beyond traditional indoor sport.

Designed through extensive stakeholder engagement, the project creates a welcoming destination that supports everyday recreation alongside organised sport. The integration of indoor and outdoor activity spaces encourages people of all ages and abilities to be active while establishing a lasting community asset that will support healthier lifestyles for decades to come.

Key Deliverables

  1. 01

    Commercial Value

By bringing multiple sport, leisure and wellbeing facilities together within a single destination, the hub maximises operational efficiency while creating opportunities for year-round use. The combination of indoor facilities and an active outdoor landscape broadens the centre’s appeal, supports long-term financial sustainability and reinforces Miners’ Welfare Park as a key leisure destination for the wider borough.

  2. 02

    Social Impact

The Physical Activity Hub has been designed to improve access to sport and physical activity for the whole community. Accessible facilities, inclusive design and strong connections to the surrounding park create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to lead healthier, more active lives. By integrating swimming, indoor sport, cycling, wheeled sports and informal recreation within one destination, the project strengthens community wellbeing and social connection while encouraging lifelong participation in physical activity.
