Cultural change through physical adaptation.
We were commissioned to help Wigan Council to deliver their vision of a modern, efficient and inspiring workplace for their staff whilst at the same time rationalising an estate that had suffered from some neglect and which was in need of remediation.
As part of a design team led by Drivers Jonas Deloitte, we delivered both our Performance + consultancy services to understand the needs, drivers and functions of the staff within the council, and our Architectural design services. We were collectively tasked to deliver a new civic and administrative hub in the heart of the town centre and to bring together a range of council departments, activities and services in a single, centralised location.
Our design sought to build on the success of the existing Wigan Life Centre and Healthy Living Zone, and to further contribute towards a sustainable future for Wigan. Through the delivery of high quality, urban regeneration, we sought to add to the image and economy of the town. We worked to combine the best of the old and the new, retaining historic character and features but introducing a workplace that was all together more inspiring and which could help staff to deliver more to the wider community.
