High-quality, architect-led contemporary housing.
Working alongside Studio Egret West and Pod, we were shortlisted to develop a masterplan for a large housing development in South Shields. Trinity South is one of the 5 neighbourhoods that make up the South Shields Riverside Regeneration Masterplan which was published in 2007 and has since been instrumental in establishing the framework for the new BT Headquarters at Harton Staithes and the Green Incubator Building adjacent to Trinity South (both of which have been designed by GT3 Architects).
The masterplan delivered 261 high-quality, contemporary, architect-designed, mixed-tenure houses on a 5.3 hectare site. The scheme sought to create a range of typologies that deliver natural daylight, fresh air and a sense of private and public space all at high density.
Each architectural practice designed 3 house-types based on a series of interlocking character streets that provided a degree of individuality and cohesion in equal measure. GT3 Architects were responsible for the design of an innovative, eco-house, a flexible live/work unit and a modern interpretation of the traditional Victorian terrace.
