Ponteland Garden Village is located on the southern edge of Ponteland, an affluent and attractive residential area close to Newcastle city centre. It has seen little development in the last 25 years, resulting in an aging population and limited facilities for families and young people.
Our proposals for this site were based on the principles of the traditional English Country Garden Suburb, and aimed to achieve a sustainable future for the local community and area.
Taking into account the unique local history, character and grain, our Masterplan sought to meet the needs of the community through the provision of a range of uses and activities that complement the existing features and facilities.
The masterplan includes 430 new homes, 60 retirement apartments, 15,000 sq ft of office space to support local businesses and a new community building. Over 30% of the site is given over to open space and the housing density is 15 units per hectare.
