‘City centre regeneration, transformation and re-connection’
The site forms a prominent gateway into the City from the west and was originally comprehensively developed as an office based destination in the mid-1970’s.
The proposed masterplan seeks to transform and redefine the existing site through a combination of new uses and bold, contemporary architecture and in so doing re-connect this island site with the wider urban fabric.
The proposed new uses will complement the existing range of bars and restaurants through the delivery of a new, limited-service 4 star hotel, high-rise residential tower, low rise apartment block and multi-storey car park all of which will be bound together through a range of public realm improvements.
The proposed masterplan will seamlessly combine bold new-build elements with the comprehensive refurbishment of existing buildings to create an holistic development and attractive destination within Newcastle City Centre.
