March 2016 – ‘+3A + GT = GT3 Architects’

+3A+GT=GT3

We are delighted to announce that in March 2016 +3 Architecture and GT Architects merged to form a new practice called GT3 Architects. The merger builds on long-standing personal and professional friendships and a desire to work more closely together. It represents a strategic opportunity for both companies, and more importantly, for our clients and staff. We have updated our website to reflect the added capacity, capability and reach of our new business and look forward to sharing the future of GT3 Architects with you in the future.

December 2014 – ‘Civic Success’

news_dec2014

Great news for our Redcar Leisure & Community Heart project. Not only is it performing well ahead of expectations (with double the number of leisure visitors per month and 90% of the commercial space let) it has also been shortlisted for a national Civic Trust award (one of only two projects from the North East to make the shortlist). 10 of the project team will be heading to the awards dinner in London on the 6th March to see whether it is a Commendation or something more…..

Delighted that our scheme for a new M&S store in the market town of Northallerton has been unanimously approved by Hambleton Council planning committee. After 12 months of intensive consultation with the Council, English Heritage and local stakeholders, the carefully-crafted scheme will now progress straight into the technical design stage with a start on site expected in April 2015. This will be no ordinary, anonymous, edge of town shed – instead it will be a scheme that reflects the rich cultural and historical context of Northallerton yet meets the needs... Read The Rest →

October 2014 – ‘Halloween Bake-Off’

news_oct2014

Yet again, the staff at +3A have thrown themselves into the seasonal spirit with their entries for the latest +3A bake-off. There were no famous judges such as ‘Scary’ Berry, or Paul ‘Hauntedwood’ but competition was nothing if not fierce. Assessment criteria included taste, technical difficulty and presentation and on that basis the deserved winner was none other than Meeks with his raspberry mouse-filled profiteroles coated in icing and red coulis. It’s a miracle that we get any real work done!

September 2014 – ‘Sessay Competition’

news_sept2014

Competitions are a polarising topic for architects – clients getting ideas for free or the platform to build an award-winning practice? Whatever your view, when organised and managed correctly they are a great opportunity for young talent to express themselves so we were delighted when Dave and Josh decided to team up with our friends at SHED (structural engineers) and OOBE (landscape architects) to submit a proposal (alongside nearly 100 others!). We think it is rather timeless and elegant – let’s see what the judges think.

August 2014 – ‘+3A Employ Droid’

news_aug2014

No we haven’t forsaken the human in favour of a machine but are delighted to be working with new graphic design agency Droid on our Performance + marketing literature. Reflecting the importance of infographics and the need for joined up thinking, the brand is bold, distinctive and versatile – combining a fun and friendly colour palette with a simple font and ability to incorporate hand written notes. It’s gone down a storm with our clients so a big thank you to our very own R2D2 (aka Danny Ramsden).
