who-we-areWHO WE ARE

We are architects trained in problem-seeking, concept-defining, solution-framing and communicating. We pride ourselves on identifying new needs and opportunities, building alliances and helping to shape solutions. Our distinguishing characteristics are openness and a desire to work collaboratively; generosity in being prepared to engage and share ideas; an inquisitiveness combined with a calculated willingness to enter uncharted territory; and above all an appetite for a challenge and an entrepreneurial drive. We have chosen to define and lead the market – not follow it.

Our business is to design and deliver innovative solutions for our clients in the private and public sector through a rigorous process of listening, challenging, imagining, making and most importantly enjoying. We not only bring our experience to our projects but also the lessons we have learnt, the knowledge of how we can add value and, in many instances, as a result of our efforts, successful outcomes that have been delivered.

GT3 Architects is an RIBA Chartered Architectural Practice and is ISO 9001 and 14001 accredited. This certification makes a positive statement about our level of systems management and the importance we place on meeting our clients’ needs.

HOW WE STARTEDhow-we-started

GT3 Architects brought together two growing, award-winning and ambitious businesses, unified by a shared ambition to redefine architectural practice, to build a sustainable future for our staff and clients and to achieve more with less. The merger of +3 Architecture and GT Architects was the natural next step in a relationship that started in 2011 and built on long-standing personal and professional friendships and a desire to work more closely together.

what-we-doWHAT WE DO

We work across a range of architectural sectors with particular skills in architecture, masterplanning and interior design with specific project experience in the fields of sport and leisure, workplace, civic, residential and mixed-use developments. These skills are supplemented by our own unique workplace consultancy service (Performance +) and our flexible, affordable recreation centre (ARC).

We have developed a reputation for our creativity and innovation supported by a proven track record of translating bold concepts into elegant technical details and successful project delivery. The majority of our projects are commissioned by repeat clients and/or won in competition which reflects both our commitment to ongoing client service and design creativity.

HOW WE WORKhow-we-work

We work differently and hence think and act differently. In a digital age where communication can be increasingly remote, GT3 Architects believe in a highly collaborative, personal, face-to-face way of working. Designing with and for people is an essential value for our organisation and our approach creates strong personal and professional bonds with clients and consultants on all of our projects.

Every project is assessed on its merits and is subject to a thorough and intensive design process that draws on research, experience and imagination in equal measure. Developing an intellectual as well as practical framework for each project is a prerequisite as is finding means of communicating ideas in a simple and effective manner. Our approach to design is defined by a process of listening, challenging, imagining, making and most importantly enjoying.

Where we work reflects who we are and how we like to work. Our culture is open and informal which fosters discussion, debate, innovation and creativity. Both studios are open plan and everyone works at the same, simple desks irrespective of experience or status. Working models, sketches, samples and ‘found objects’ animate the studio and reflect the intensive, highly creative way in which we like to work. We adopt an open-house policy and regularly welcome clients, consultants and students to share and exchange ideas all of which adds to the general buzz of our studios and culture.

The practice is based in newly-refurbished studios in Newcastle and Nottingham City Centres providing easy access for staff and clients. We have made significant investment in the quality of our working environment and IT systems that support the office. All staff work on new, high-powered workstations running the latest industry-standard BIM and creative software which enables us to produce complex 2D and 3D information depending on the requirements of any project.

WHO WE WORK WITHwho-we-work-with

We recognise that architects do not have a monopoly on good ideas! That is why we work so closely with and value so highly the clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders that make up the team on each project. Every successful scheme is the result of a genuine team effort and we regularly work with many of the world’s leading consultants, benefiting from their knowledge and experience in order to achieve the best results for our clients. We work with clients in the public and private sector including national and regional agencies and local authorities and landowners, business owners, occupiers and developers.

Our staff are our greatest asset. We have an enormously talented and dedicated team of people who are passionate about what we do and have a great time doing it. We have been uncompromising in ensuring that we recruit not only the most talented individuals but also those who share our way of doing things and who like working as part of a team to deliver success for our clients.

We want to be the employer of choice for the best UK and overseas graduates, providing them with challenging and fulfilling work opportunities by creating an environment where our culture can develop and our talent can flourish for the benefit of our business, for our staff, our clients and the communities in which we work.
